The Pork Place

When you come across a restaurant with the name The Pork Place, you can only expect this eatery to serve all forms of porky delights. I first came to know of its existence when Reiko pointed it out to me. The first thing that popped into my head was that le hubby would likely enjoy it most.

Le hubby is huge on pork and his favourite are ribs. He came up with the idea of having "pig-out weekends", where we will pick a day in the weekend and go out and savour all things porky. This evening, we decided to visit The Pork Place at IOI Boulevard in Puchong.

The ambience is simple, country style. The interior walls are laid with red bricks and this adds a certain degree of warmth and cosiness to the place.

The menu consists of a number of porkilicious goodies and they were mostly western style food. We toyed around with it before ordering as we were rather tempted by a few items and couldn't really make up our minds.

We started off with the Sliced Belly Salad with Goma dressing. This was the only starter that caught my eye. The belly slices had a nice consistency and were not too chewy. There's a generous sprinkling of ebiko at the top, which I thought was interesting.

I am a huge fan of pork sausages so I couldn't resist ordering the Sausage Platter. This came with two dark and two light sausages and they were all quite big. The sausages were served with a warm cabbage salad and some mash on the side. I was a little disappointed that they didn't add more mash though.

This is a good dish to share with two. I could only manage one and a half sausages and le hubby ate the other half and we had to tapau (take-away) two home. He will probably have them for breakfast tomorrow.

Le hubby had the Bacon and Cheese Burger. The portion is not as big as the burgers served at TGIF but they are definitely better than the puny ones as Macdonald's. The pork patty was grilled well and had a slightly smoky flavour. He told me he would rate it as 7/10, so it must be quite good.

The Pork Place has an array of wine but le hubby and I are not wine drinkers. Instead, we got ourselves some dark German beer and in my humble opinion, this is the best drink accompaniment with pork :-)

All in all, it was a warm, enjoyable experience and meal. We will definitely visit again as we would like to try their pork knuckle and some more porky delights the next trip.
